My friends and I used to get a little poker game going every once in a while. Here
are some of the games we played. We play mostly 7 card stud and 5 card draw with
variations. Seven card stud is usually dealt 2 down, 4 up and 1 down.
Canadian Auction
Auction Game. Deal one card down. Dealer puts two cards face up. Players bid (starting
with 'free') until no one wants to go higher. That player takes the cards leaving
them face up. If no one wants them, then are put in the trash. The auction continues
until everyone has 6 up cards. When there is one person who needs cards, they must
take then next cards. i.e. they can not say no. Deal one card down. Then each player
chooses one of their down cards to be wild for their hand. All cards of the same
rank are wild, but that down card is not actually in the hand. (You are left with
7 cards). Bet. Turn Non-Wild down card up. Bet.

4's
Match pot game. Deal 4 cards down to each player. Each player decides to stay or
drop. Then lay 1,2, or 3 (if you have an ace) cards down. The dealer completes the
hand to 4 cards (So it's like draw). Highest hand wins. Only pairs, three of kind
and 4 of a kind count. Start over with everyone.

Chopping Block
Auction Game. Deal 2 down to each player. Auction 2 pair to each player (See Canadian
Auction for details on auctioning.) Deal 1 card down. Bet. Place down cards in a
line going from the middle of the table toward you. Dealer deals one card in the
middle of the table. This card determines which one of your down cards is wild.
If the card is 2-5, the card closest to you is your wild card. (It is still in your
hand) If the card is 6-10, the middle card and J-A, the top card. Roll the other
two cards. Bet.

up, the player matches the pot. Play continues with next person until the pot is
gone. If the first card is an Ace, the player calls it high or low. An Ace that
comes up second is always high.
